Number Dos

I saw a woman walking two pug puppies last night. There is something about a pug, especially in puppy-form, that just melts me. Despite the fact that I am up to my elbows in poop, if a pug puppy happened upon me, I would just drop everything and love it to pieces.

Up to my elbows in poop? Well, there is the cat with the runs AGAIN. I switched to clay litter, since it does a nicer job of masking the smell and the cats actually make an effort to COVER their poo (not so with the pine stuff). Note that the pine stuff was GREAT with the cat, but these kittens were just lazy about it. Maybe we'll switch back in the future ... because I really hate the stray pieces of litter that not "litter" my bathroom and into the bedroom. Gross.

Also with poop, our waste water backed up ... into the bathtub and the shower. Super-gross. Thankfully, the plumbers came out yesterday and cleared the line, and we can once again flush and shower. On the plus side, my husband and I got the bathrooms super-clean since, well, there's nothing like raw sewage to warrant a deep cleaning.

ALSO, it's time to clean out the chicken coop ... I think. I am awaiting my copy of Raising Chickens For Dummies, but I'm thinking weekly is probably the way to go with a light cleaning of the place. I need to go back to TSC and get more bedding. I should probably buy a few bags, so I don't have to run to the opposite side of town every week.

So, I'm pooped out.

Oh, I just remembered that I have two poo-filled cloth diapers festering from when we were unable to flush the toilets. Super-gross.

Ugh.

More Laundry

I am still doing laundry today. I'm not sure how Jon & Kate Plus 8 only get away with two washers and dryers. I need two of each, and I have a quarter of the amount of children. I think the Duggars have four of each. I would need like 10.

People seem to like the painted fireplace better. I really think it does lighten up the room. Mrs. House of Toys really liked it ... I have also recruited her to finish the job for me by buying her a bike. (She is trying to get money/bike donations so all the kids with perfect attendance at the school she volunteers at can get a new bike.) So, everyone will win in the end.

I have 14 cloth diapers. This gets me through about two days. I wash them every other day (sometimes every day). Another 6 might be nice, then I could maybe sneak another 12 or 24 hours in there or at least have some while the others are washing and drying (I like to airdry the covers and on humid days that takes a while). We are making due, though.

I am so happy it's Friday. Mrs. House of Toys and I are planning on going to garage sales tomorrow morning, then her family is coming over Sunday for dinner. Mr. House of Toys is cleaning our air conditioner in exchange for a steak dinner. (Mrs. doesn't cook red meat, so this is a treat for him. Also, do you notice there's a lot of trading going on?) It's also Mother's Day on Sunday! Hopefully, all our cards and gifts arrive to our moms and Jonathan's grandma on time.

Cloth Diapers are CUTE!

Look how cute this baby is:
And a cute sideview:
And a closeup of both the cute diaper and his chunky legs:
Now, I've only experienced a pee. It was NO BIG DEAL! Seriously, it was so not traumatic. We'll have to experience a full-on poop to see if they're truly keepers, but I think I'm going to want about eight more BumGenius 3.0s. Ugh. They are SO cute. They're also designed to be used for toddlers up to 35 pounds ... we'll certainly be pushing that limit (as Bean was 35 pounds when he was potty trained).

In other news, I'm reading 12 Hours of Sleep by 12 Weeks. I know my kid isn't 12 weeks old. While I don't agree with all the advice in there, there are a few good nuggets. I'm trying to feed him less often, so he'll actually eat up when it's time. I'm also putting him down right after he falls asleep and not 20 minutes later. He's slept great day - a nearly 2 hour nap this afternoon and he's snoozing right now!

I also didn't spend so much time holding him today (seriously, I usually hold him all day). He spent more time on the floor playing with toys ... and with his big brother. They were so enthralled with one another that they ignored the camera entirely. Aww.
In other news, I have my Twilight books! The mailman finally decided to make the long trip up the sidewalk to my porch. I'm pretty sure it killed him. So, thousands of pages of vampire-human-young-love romance await me! I just finished Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty. Ohmigod! (Ha ha. If you've read the book, then you'll appreciate that.) I love, love, love it. I'm also watching Secret Life of American Teen with Molly Ringwald. Seriously, I'm on YA overload. But it's fun!
