A sheet of ice covered the area last night, but we should warm up to the 40s today and to the 60s by this weekend. Despite that, school is canceled* and so are many activities around town. Husband had a delay at work, but it now there slaving away (I'm sure).
Unannounced to anyone, Bean headed outside this morning to "make a snowman." He was wearing his PJs with a light jacket and shoes. Needless to say, he came back into the house wailing and moaning. I got him into the bed, and it took a good 10 minutes to finally get his hands warmed up again. Bean said that his dada let him outside, but Husband (who was in the shower when the incident occurred) said that he left him eating waffles. I can find no traces of a snowman, so I guess his hands froze before much work got done.
We're planning a visit to House of Toys this afternoon. Moose is supposed to be napping (he's not).
*It should also be noted that our local news channels does not know how to spell canceled ... in all cases it was spelled with two Ls. They also struggled with the word buses, using two Ss in many cases. Don't they pay people to catch such things? I'm just a stay-at-home mom, though, what do I know.

A Snow Day in Texas
And here's "how bad it got" (about 6:30ish p.m.):
I'm not kidding. No wonder the South lost the Civil War. I mean, seriously, how do you win at ANYTHING if this scares you.
On another note, Husband is mortified that I posted the pee-pee discussion last night. Doesn't he know me well enough to know that I will post just about anything? Geez. And it's something kids do. I have a younger brother, I recall many a pee-pee conversation. So, to make up for that mortifying post, I thought I would showcase my husband's very tidy nightstand. It looks like this everyday (unless I have put something on it):
That's a lamp, a Kleenex box (and, if you know my husband you understand why there must be a Kleenex box within arms reach all the freaking time), a Glade Candle Holder (have you tried these out? They smell delicious and are made with essential oils and burn themselves away. I generally hate candles, but I'm sold on these), the clock, and a tube of Chap Stick. Good job, Husband.
And here I am:
Let's see. A dozen or so books, some lotion, a magazine, a gift card, two binkies, a remote, a teething toy, some random paper, clear nail polish, a pen or two, a nail file, red nail polish, a ponytail holder, two tubes of Chap Stick, and likely a partridge in a pear tree. AND, I promptly set my camera down on top of the mess right after I took this picture. I should also point out that none of the nails on my body are red nor clear.

Chilly
OK, it's not ::that:: cold!
It was 83 on Thursday and was in the 70s yesterday. Two beautiful afternoons. A rare treat even in this neck of the woods for January. Things turned soured quickly yesterday evening, though, the winds picked up and cooled everything off quickly. The sun is shining today, but the wind is still wicked.
We're having a lazy day around the house and watching Kung Fu Panda.
