They are in the run/coop all the time. It's designed for four to six hens, so it's pretty nice for them with just the three of them. Their run is on grass, and we can move it around to different spots, so they do get fresh air and some ranging. While city ordinances don't explicitly allow city chickens, they do outlaw free-ranging chickens within city limits.

In the top picture, on your left, there is a gate entry on that side. You can just barely see the black latch for it.
