Pregnant in Heels

The show Pregnant in Heels premiered last night on Bravo. One of the couples featured last night was on a baby-naming mission. They held a meeting-of-minds, focus group, and dinner party to discuss name possibilities. The couple wanted something presidential but not boring. The wife is in the branding business and the husband does something that keeps them rich.

The couple came into the mission with the following names: Bode (BO like go-DEE), Bowen (BO like go-WIN), and Asher.

The first group was made up of language-style-type people (a poet, a baby name blogger, a fashion designer, a linguistic - to name a few). They suggested names like Tucker, Holden, and Miles, which the couple added to their list. As a whole, the group did not respond well to Bode or Bowen.

The second group was made up of industry leaders (SUCCESSFUL people). They disliked Bode and Bowen VERY much and all reacted pretty positively to Tucker, Holden, Miles, and Asher. (One man, clearly the brightest of the bunch, brought up the rhyming issue with Tucker - thank you SOMEONE for pointing that out.) They also really liked Steven - for a bizarre twist.

The third group was friends and family. The loved Asher and Miles. They HATED Bowen. I believe comments can be summed up with, "Bowen? What does that even mean? It's not even a real name."

So, what name did the couple chose?

BOWEN.

I can only imagine the money and time they spent searching THE PERFECT NAME and they totally go with the name THEY LOVE from the get-go. No amount of genius opinions could sway them.

For the record, I was rooting for Miles or Holden, but I'm sort of glad that despite their "research" they chose the name they loved and weren't influenced by others. That said, Bowen isn't my cup of tea.
